There’s probably a very small percentage of people who legitimately found the heart in Chapter 6 without a guide, however a chunk of them most likely can definitely get past all of B-Sides, and maybe even C-Sides when given enough time. I’m personally not bothered by this since I 100%d the game long before Chapter 9 came out, however, I am just worried that the blue gate doesn’t do a fair job at gauging skill. However, since Chapter 9 has story, it’s pretty strange that the players would need to know a reference to a 30 year old Mario game to progress the plot. I did it to unlock something that was noncanon bonus content. Who hasn’t looked up where the blue hearts are honestly? Personally, I have, and I wasn’t really bothered by it. This would be perfectly okay, if it weren’t for the fact that Chapter 9 has story. The other half unlocked by doing secret cryptic shenanigans. they still would be missing half of the hearts. For a normal player, or at least one that has 5 or so hearts, they would jump to the conclusion that beating the B-Sides is what they beed to pass! Well. The intentional design behind skipping the barrier is awesome! However, I see a slight flaw in its design.Ĩ Blue hearts, and 7 Red hearts is what you need to pass through. To be honest, as a very experienced player, this is one of my favorite things in the game. There is now a heart barrier in the middle of the chapter. However Chapter 9 has recently released, and it has surfaced something odd. A reward for exploration, and a good design choice for making “True Ending” runs go smoother. In fact, I loved their presence! They were a collectable to access Chapter 8 without having to do any B-Sides. Before Chapter 9 I have never had a problem with blue hearts.
